After the success of the Spanish-English series Narcos, Netflix is ready to branch out into new foreign territory.
Netflix announced today that the company is producing Sacred Games, based on the novel by Indian author Vikram Chandra, and will explore organized crime, corruption and politics in the city of Mumbai, according to “Coming Soon.” It will be shot on location in the subcontinent, and will feature the Hindi language as well as English. Netflix is even partnering with “creative powerhouse” Phantom Films, a production company based in India. Netflix VP Erik Barmack that the new series will reinforce “our commitment to bring the authenticity of local stories to Netflix members across 190 countries worldwide.”
